Two professors out of the United States take aim at the electric cigarette as consumers look for a way to handle smoking bans all over the world. This third smoke comes from the effect of vaporized nicotine that clings to the smoker’s skin and clothing as well as the walls and furnishings in a home. When the nicotine is mixed with ambient nitrous acid, it becomes a dangerous carcinogenic. The nicotine clings to the user whether they are using a tobacco cigarette or an electric cigarette.

The second news story comes from the University of Virginia, which claims that the electric cigarettes do not deliver any nicotine. This study seems to fly in the face of all the dire warnings about the dangers of the electric cigarette. If the device does not actually deliver nicotine, then why would there be a problem with third hand smoke as the professors from Berkeley claim. The Virginia professor is calling for more regulation over the devices to monitor the amount of nicotine delivered by the electric cigarette. The concern is that smokers who are trying to ease their craving for nicotine will not be helped by the electric cigarette. However, the electric cigarette cartridges that hold the liquid nitrogen can be purchased in varying strengths to accommodate the needs of the smoker.

The truth is that the studies surrounding electric cigarettes have been an attempt to control the behaviour of the smoking public. More research is needed on the effects of the electric cigarette before it is determined to be a help or a harmful product.
